Time to leave! The Jewish community in the U.K. is confronting a severe safety crisis. Mobs are besieging Jewish businesses, individuals are being assaulted in the streets, and gatherings must now be held covertly or under heavy guard. Jews have even been barred from attending football matches. This is not Nazi Germany, though it evokes unsettling comparisons for some. This is Great Britain, a nation once considered a safe haven for Jews, but no longer. When reports emerged several weeks ago that the White House might consider offering asylum to British Jews, many dismissed the notion as absurd. However, Gideon Falter, the head of Britain's Campaign Against Antisemitism, did not find the idea so far-fetched.
