The East Flatbush synagogue is facing the possibility of being demolished to make way for affordable housing developments. Kingsbrook Synagogue, located within the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center Campus, which is under the ownership of One Brooklyn Health, may be replaced. Rabbi Zalman Goldstein, who is part of the congregation, explains that the synagogue's origins trace back to the 1920s when it was established as a direct response to antisemitic discrimination. "This place was created as a reaction to the prejudice faced by Jewish people. Now, nearly a century later, we find ourselves here questioning what has become of the world," Goldstein reflected.
